About the event

In July we will be discussing:


Holinger, Paul (2025). Affects, Cognition, and Language as Foundations of Human Development. Routledge: New York.


Readings include not only the work of Tomkins (specifically, we are reading through the volumes of his

magnus opus Affect, Imagery, Consciousness) but of other researchers related to Affect Script theory. These

are relatively casual Zoom interactions, but participants are expected to have, at minimum, a mid-level

knowledge of Tomkins’ basic ideas, particularly affect theory and the innate activator model. Sessions are
