Charles Yopst, DMin

Chuck Yopst has been a Presbyterian pastor for 44 years, working with ten congregations in such areas as New York City, Washington, DC, rural South-Central Pennsylvania, and now Chicago. He's worked as a Dance/Movement Therapist since 1990 and registered as such since 1998 when a Master of Arts in Dance/Movement Therapy was conferred by Chicago's Columbia College. A Hospital Chaplain for ten years, he received a Doctor of Ministry in Group Pastoral Care from McCormick Theological Seminary at the University of Chicago, 1993. It was through the Doctor of Ministry program that he came to know of Silvan Tomkins's material through a colleague of the late Michael Franz Basch, and six years later of the Rev. Dr. Dave McShane, also of McCormick Seminary. Among his many contributions to the success of the Tomkins Institute is his careful stewardship of Tomkins-Talk, our listserv, and his many creative messages about the role of interaffectivity and the empathic wall in personality formation.
