Bruce Murray, MSW
Bruce Murray, MSW, a mental health professional since 1977, is the Director of Tomkins Relational Educators. In 2001 he was awarded the Diplomate in Clinical Forensic Counseling from the National Association of Forensic Counselors in recognition of years of experience specific to the Criminal Justice System and the treatment of criminal offenders and their victims. In addition to varied experiences at all levels of mental health treatment and over 25 years of group facilitation, he also provides public and professional education on topics of violence prevention, clinical forensic treatment, parenting and building supportive family relations, workplace personnel topics, organizational leadership, and group facilitation.
As Project Coordinator for the Tomkins Institute Research Program, Mr. Murray worked on the development of grants, mobilization of the research design, and the establishment of new programs; he was involved in the development of the DVD Managing Shame, Preventing Violence: A Call to Our Clergy from conception to completion. As a result of that project, it was decided that all of the courses provided by the Tomkins Institute would be brought under the umbrella of Tomkins Relational Educators. The new programs are designed to support situation specific learning and the development of skills for the management of shame in groups, organizations, and families. Mr. Murray is a featured faculty member of the programs offered for Clergy and the Organizational Leadership syllabus, each of which focuses on relationship building and accountability in families, business organizations, schools, mental health facilities, and forensic treatment settings.
